Hello, I'm Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu Center, this is my assistant Melissa and this is Kung Fu for health. We're going to be working on a striking technique called a Reverse Punch. This is combining a punching action with our Bow and Arrow Stance. I'm going to demonstrate it slowly to begin with. You'll start from the feet together position, you'll chamber the hands to your waist rolling all four fingers in, thumb, index and turn your left foot out 45 degrees. You're going to step forward with your right foot into the Bow and Arrow Stance. As your right heel hits, your left hand is going to strike forward, using the Reverse Hand of the foot. You'll see that my body is really reaching forward. The timing on this punch, turn the foot out, you'll step forward and land for a moment. As you land, you'll straighten the rear leg, shift the weight forward, fire the Reverse Punch off. I'm going to have Melissa demonstrate it a few times so I can point out some of the finer details. Her feet are together, her hands are chambered. Now remember the chamber position is going to be riding more on to your hip bone, your elbows are back, your chest is open up. She's going to turn out her left foot 45 degrees and step forward with her right leg, heel-toe, Bow and Arrow Stance. As she lands, she's going to bring this hand, that's going to stay into the body and she's going to allow what's called the Reverse Hand or the Rear Hand Punch. So she's going to allow this hand to punch forward. Again, we want to feel the reaching sensation, shoulder relax. She's going to turn out her front foot. Now she's going to step through and she's going to keep this hand out, "Step through Melissa into the Bow Stance". Now from here, this hand pulls in, this hand punches out very fast. Reverse Punch. Again, nice and straight line and you'll see here that she's reaching with the shoulders so that her body is not square but extending into the strike. This is very important. This is called a Reverse Punch Kung Fu for health.
