Meet the 6 NYC Marathon Runners

Last Update: October 20, 2008

Video By:

This year's New York Marathon will be special for many people. But for six members of the LIVESTRONG Army, running the marathon is not about winning a race; it's about fighting for a cure for cancer.

These six runners, who range in age from 21 to 60, are participating in the marathon with Team LIVESTRONG to raise awareness about this deadly disease, while honoring their friends, family and even their own battles with cancer.

And in the process, they are showing that there is no age limit when it comes to stepping up to challenge.

Be sure to check back next week when we'll highlight each runner and give them a chance to share their stories.

Have these stories inspired you? Learn more about running a marathon to raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Congratulations to you all for making it this far - and like Dani said you have all achieved success. It certainly is inspiring to have all kinds of different people (as exemplified by the 6 runners in the video) all working toward the same goal, in this case, raising awareness for finding a cure for cancer.

Have a great race and good luck to you all!

I would love to run another marathon to support LAF and to show the world that Esophageal Cancer of which i am a survivor can be beat. Unfortunately my decrepit knees and back will not permit it. Bring back the Lance Armstrong Challenge to Southern California so that I can one again participate and hopefully raise another $10K for LAF.

Thank you for sharing your very inspiring stories with us! I'm so proud to be a part of your team this year! I'm a 12 year cancer survivor, running my second NYC marathon for "Team LiveSTRONG" to raise donations, awareness, and to lead by example of "living beyond cancer"! Good Luck to all the runners! Godspeed to everyone battling this dreaded disease! See you in NYC! JoMO

Dani, Best of luck to you and all the runners on the LAF team. I am so proud to know you. Not only for making the team but for everything you do in the name of Cancer, from running your awesome support groups which I was lucky to be a part of for over 3 years, but also for the compassionate and caring ways you show not only your patients but their familes as well. Dani, you are an angel, so put on your wings and float over that finish line! GO Dani, GO! Go Team Armstrong!!
Love you....DonnaLeeH

Hi Dani - I am Amy Bartlett - the last one in the video. I can't wait to meet you. I grew up in Irvine...but now I live in Portland. Great job getting out there...being the "oldest" makes you the coolest one of the bunch!
