Hi, I'm Karina Fraley for Expert Village and today we're talking about little league. If you send your child to the practices or to the games alone, you need to be sure that you go over with them just some basic safety guidelines. Anytime that your child is alone there is some sort of risk of strangers or being hurt or getting lost, so you want to be sure you have a very concrete plan with your child as to where they can go if they're on the younger side, they really probably should just go to the park and then straight back home. Or if you're going to pick them up they really need to know exactly where they're suppose to be and at what time and they really need to stick to that guideline. Remind them never to talk to strangers, just because somebody is out watching a game doesn't make them safe. Just because they're wearing a uniform doesn't necessarily make them safe. So be sure that you tell your child that if anybody approaches them that they don't know that they're really aren't suppose to go off with them. If somebody comes and offers to coach them or you know play catch with them or anything like that, be sure that you tell your child that they really shouldn't engage with anybody beyond their coaches and their teams.
