In this free BMX grinding video lesson an expert will discuss and demonstrate how to do a two peg grind on a BMX bike.
Garson Fields is 20 years old. He has been riding BMX and mountain bikes for seven years and shown many others how to as well. He represents Full Circle Bike Shop out of Florence, MA.
So now we've got the demonstration of your basic double peg grind again, just a really low rail. Usually a little bit easier to do it on higher stuff I find. Gives you a little more room to pop out but yeah, here we go. I am going to roll in, not go too fast, aim my front peg on, pick up and ride off. So it almost feels just like you are riding across it. Just give it a little more drag and you want to make sure your balance point is a little bit over your pegs but still pretty centered on the bike because if you lean too far out, you will find that you kind of roll in off the side and it will pull you off the ledge early. Don't want to be in too far but basically what will happen is your pegs all of a sudden the ends will be pressing down whatever you are riding on and you will have a whole bunch of extra drag. So basically I just grounded the end of that rail right there and just picked up straight off. A little bit easier that way. If you are trying to get off a ledge earlier and you kind of have to pull out to the side a little bit more. But yeah you want to make sure you get adequate speed. Don't come flying into anything too fast without checking out how slick it is though because every once in a while you will get something a little bit sticky and then that can kind of put you over the front end a little bit. So scope out what it is you are about to do the grind on. Stay loose, look ahead and make sure to aim your front peg on the rail because you don't want to miss the front peg. If you miss the back peg, it's not usually going to be as bad. But gentle hop doesn't have to be coming up too high and just look for the end of the rail, stay loose, keep your balance point and pick up a little bit to get right off and you should have it in no time.
