Wearing high heels doesn't make your backside look bigger, if bigger is defined as heavier. But heels can enhance its appearance by lifting your bottom and accentuating your feminine curves. Heels cause your pelvis to tilt forward and your lower back to arch slightly. This can give a sagging butt a perky lift, while elevating your chest. Heels can up the femininity quotient of any outfit and can even make the way you walk look more attractive.

Butt Lift

While heels don't add girth to your butt, they can lift a sagging backside. Because of the the way a great pair of pumps realigns your feet, heels cause a slight curve in your lower back, and tilt your pelvis forward. As a result, your butt lifts and might protrude a little more than before. Overall, this makes your butt more shapely and perky, but not bulkier.

Body Shape

Heels give your butt, legs, feet and even chest more shape by the way they re-align your body. The arch in your lower back pushes your chest forward, which improves your posture and makes you look curvier. Your calf muscles contract and shorten, while your thighs tighten; this makes you look slim but toned. At the same time, heels definitionally add height, helping to give your body a long and lean appearance. The higher the heel -- not including the high platform part -- the higher your butt will lift. Wearing heels also arches your feet, which has an attractive look and an elongating effect.

Hip Movement

A 2012 study done at the University of Portsmouth found that men consider women more attractive when they walk in heels rather than flat shoes. According to the study, women look more feminine in heels, as it makes them swing their hips and take shorter strides. As a result, your butt and hips are emphasized when in heels, giving your overall appearance a womanly boost.

Clothing to Match Your Heels

Wear a pencil skirt with pumps or stilettos to further accentuate your butt. Make sure your skirt fits right; if it's too tight it will flatten your butt. To best feature your behind, choose a skirt that cups your butt, or have a tailor nip it in the center just below your tush. Stretchy bandage-style skirts also lift and show off your butt. Choose a dress or top that has a fitted, defined waistline, to create an hourglass effect. You could also create a flattering waistline with a high-waisted skirt. For outerwear, go for fitted, high-cut jackets and blazers to enhance an hourglass figure.
