You don’t have to buy fancy products to get the awesome benefits of coffee for your skin. Save your cash for your favorite single-origin pot of java and use some of the grinds for this awesome scrub.
Here's What You'll Need
- 3/4 to 1 cup coffee grinds
- 1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (you can also use granulated or raw sugar for a slightly rougher scrub)
- 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oil — we like peppermint or orange (if you don’t have any on hand, use 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract)
Mix all ingredients together and place in a resealable glass jar.
Tips on How to Use
Coffee scrub is a great pick-me-up for your morning shower. Use it two to three times per week — you don't want to over-exfoliate and risk irritating your skin. Rinse with warm water and make sure to moisturize after to lock in the benefits.
And keep in mind: Coffee mixed with water can be messy. Just like spilling your first cup of the day on your new white shirt, avoid light colored towels and rinse off completely before drying off to avoid stains. Also, like your morning grinds in the disposal, coffee grounds are not your plumbing's best friend. Use a hair catcher to avoid grinds going down the drain after you wash up.
