Latina bombshell Sofia Vergara is famous for speaking her mind about everything from parenting to relationships. But it’s the star’s most recent interview where she dishes on her love-hate relationship with exercise (nailing the complicated relationship of woman versus workout) that has truly won over our hearts.

While other stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson gush over their love of physical fitness, Sofia’s killer curves and fit physique aren’t the result of a love affair with the gym. In fact, she doesn’t actually like working out and only does it because it’s necessary.
“I’m aging, and I know that it does make a difference, and you can see it in the women and men that work out,” the 44-year-revealed. “Things start to change, and I’m like the only thing to do is go and take care of it,” she told SELF.
Sofia showed her true feelings about exercise late last year with a hilarious social-media snap. “Sunday torture!” she captioned the Instagram image of herself at the gym, lying on the ground after what appeared to be a butt-busting workout.
While it would be safe to assume that her hard-bodied husband Joe Manganiello provides her with enough gymspiration for the rest of life, her actual motivator is quite surprising.
Her motivation comes in the form of her co-star Ed O’Neil, who plays her husband. “Ed is a black belt in jiujitsu, and he works out every day. He’s 70 years old and moves like a 40-year-old man. It’s impressive to see what exercise has done to him.”
While some stars are committed to a single workout like Pilates, yoga or weight training to maintain their physiques, Sofia has a different approach: She switches up her workout every six months to keep things fresh.
In the past she has been a fan of Pilates, and right now she is getting into boxing, but there are some workouts she has to avoid. “I can’t do a CrossFit or anything that I have to be jumping because I have very bad knees,” she admits.
As for her diet, she admits she can’t stay away from sweets but attempts to keep things healthy for the most part. “We have a lot of healthy things, but we keep a balance,” she says. “I do have a lot of fruits and vegetables, and we cook fresh meats. But I also have ice cream and dessert, and we do that during the weekend. I try to control myself during the week.”
