With active (very active!) twin 8-year-old girls and a successful recipe blog, my life is a constant balancing act of meetings, emails, cooking, filming, parenting, soccer practice and play dates. I’m a stay-at-home mom who also works from home, so there are times when I’m making dinner, overseeing homework and shooting a new recipe all at once.

One of my biggest challenges is finding time to take care of myself, but I’m determined to stay fit, healthy and happy without compromising family and work. Here’s how I’m doing it so far.

GET MOVING

First, I’ve decided that whenever my girls are active I have to be active too. During their soccer practice, I use the time to go for a run around the field instead of being a spectator in my chair. When they’re done, we might kick the ball around for some family fun time.

VERSATILE STYLE

Most days I also make sure to dress in workout clothes so I’m always prepared for an impromptu run.

WATER WISE

Of course, drinking plenty of water is important to me, and I make sure my daughters and I always stay hydrated. We all have our own colored water bottles that we carry. I often put in some orange slices to add more flavor.

SATISFYING SNACKS

Eating healthy has always been the easy part for me, especially since my blog is all healthy recipes. I make sure our refrigerator is stocked with lean proteins, complex carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables. When I’m on the go, I like quick and easy snacks. This past week for after soccer practice, I had in my cooler Del Monte® Fruit & Chia™, sliced cucumbers, baby carrots and raw almonds. It’s been the perfect snack pack for us after chasing a soccer ball around for a few hours.

READY FOR ANYTHING

I always have sunscreen and hats for me and the kids in my bag. We also have two small umbrellas in the car if there was ever a time we needed to be outside too long. Two weeks ago, it came in handy when we were at the county fair.

WIND DOWN

As for de-stressing, the best thing I did for myself was get a planner. Each night I make a to-do list of things that need to get accomplished the next day. Once those items are checked off, I’m done and I don’t add more.
