Fiber One bars, produced by cereal manufacturer General Mills, help contribute to a balanced diet that includes plenty of dietary fiber. Adequate fiber intake has been linked with a healthy digestive system, as well as lower cholesterol and heart disease, notes MayoClinic.com. According to General Mills, Fiber One chewy granola bars provide 35 percent of the recommended daily value for fiber.

Allergy Considerations

Ingredients in Fiber One bars may include chicory root extract, rolled oats, caramel flavor, nonfat milk, dextrose, salt, soy lecithin, crisp rice, rice flour, sugar, barley flakes, honey and vegetable oil. People with allergies should note that Fiber One bars contain milk, soy, wheat, peanut, sunflower and almond ingredients.

Calories

The different varieties of Fiber One chewy bars contain differing amounts of calories. The oats and strawberry with almonds, chocolate mocha, and oats and chocolate varieties each contains 140 calories, with 35 of those calories coming from fat. One 40g Fiber One oats and caramel chewy granola bar contains 140 calories, with 30 of those calories from fat. At the higher end of the scale is the oats and peanut butter type, which weighs in with 150 calories, 40 of them coming from fat. At the lower end of the regular chewy bars is the oats and apple streusel bar, which has 130 calories, 20 of which come from fat.

Dietary Benefits

A Fiber One bar contributes 35 percent, or 9g, of the U.S. recommended daily allowance of dietary fiber. At around 30g, the bars' total carbohydrate content provides about 10 percent of the daily value for carbs. Each bar has 2g of protein and no measurable cholesterol.

The sodium content varies based on the bar's formulation. Chocolate mocha and the oat and strawberry varieties have 90mg of sodium, while the oats and chocolate kind has 95mg. Both the oats and caramel and the oats and peanut butter varieties have 105mg of sodium, and the oats and apple streusel flavor has 120mg.

Fat and Sugar Content

The fat content in Fiber One bars also varies depending on the type. The oats and apple streusel bar has the lowest fat content, with 2g per bar. Next is the oats and strawberry variety, with 3g, followed by oats and caramel with 3.5g. In the middle are the chocolate mocha and the oats and chocolate flavors, with 4g of fat each. The oats and peanut butter flavor has the most fat, with 4.5g per bar.

Sugar content varies as well. The oats and caramel, oats and peanut butter, and oats and strawberry each has 9g of sugar, while the oats and chocolate and the chocolate mocha flavors have 10g, and the oats and apple streusel variety has 11g of sugar.

Vitamins and Minerals

Fiber One bars are not outstanding sources of vitamins and minerals. All of the varieties contain 10 percent of the recommended daily value of calcium. Only the oats and strawberry, oats and peanut butter, and oats and chocolate varieties contain any other significant nutrients. Those three varieties each provide 2 percent of the daily value for iron, with the oats and peanut butter contributing 2 percent of vitamin A as well.

Reduced-Calorie Bars

Fiber One also has two flavors of a lighter, 90-calorie bar, available in chocolate and chocolate peanut butter. Twenty of the bar's 90 calories come from fat. Along with 95mg sodium, these bars have 2g of fat, 1g of saturated fat, 17g of carbohydrates and 5g of sugar. The lower-calorie bars provide 1g of protein, and 4 percent of the daily recommended value of vitamins A and C.
