Drinking peppermint tea will not cause you to magically shed pounds. Weight loss is the result of burning off more calories than you consume by exercising and replacing high-calorie foods with lower-calorie options. But peppermint has benefits for digestion and exercise, so it's beneficial for anyone trying to lose weight.

Peppermint Tea and Digestion

Peppermint tea soothes digestion and promotes healthy bowel movements by relaxing the gastrointestinal organs. By relaxing the muscles of the digestive tract and increasing the flow of bile, fats digest more easily and quickly, preventing or reducing bloating, gas and indigestion. It may also help alleviate irritable bowel syndrome. This won't help with weight loss. Poor digestion, however, may cause you to feel too tired or uncomfortable to exercise, so improving your digestive health can keep you moving and burning calories throughout the day.
