Drinks to Remove Acne Scars & Stretch Marks

Acne scars and stretch marks can be hard to deal with and accept, especially if they are noticeable to others. There are many ways to try and heal these types of marks, from creams to laser surgery. But there are also some liquid approaches that may help to heal the skin and prevent further damage. These drinks include water, carrot juice and lemon juice. Each acts to both hydrate the body and provide it with certain nutrients that are essential for healthy skin. If suffering from continued acne or scars that do not respond to these liquids, see your doctor.

Water is probably the most important liquid drink to remove acne scars and stretch marks. Keeping the skin fully hydrated helps to fill in stretch marks, and also acts as a vehicle to get necessary nutrients through the body to heal the skin. As Linda Page notes in her book, "Linda Page's Healthy Healing: A Guide to Self-Healing for Everyone," lack of water accelerates aging. She also notes that water moisturizes skin and lubricates tissues, which help to heal scars and marks.

Carrot Juice

Another drink that may help with removing acne scars and stretch marks is carrot juice. Carrot juice is a rich source of vitamin A, and also the B-complex vitamins, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Vitamin A, in particular, is necessary for the maintenance of tissues and the skin, and ingesting higher amounts may help in healing the skin. In her book, "Healthy Healing: A Guide to Self-Healing for Everyone," Page recommends drinking carrot juice twice a week during pregnancy to prevent stretch marks.

Lemon Juice

Another possible drink to get rid of acne scars and stretch marks is lemon juice mixed in water. The high vitamin C content of lemon juice is healing to the skin, as it is an antioxidant and fights free radicals, and is vital in the production of collagen, a skin protein. In the book, "Over 1000 Health Hints For One And All," author Dr. Seema Kumari recommends drinking lemon squeezed in water two or three times a day for 10 to 15 days to heal scars and marks.
