RevitaLash, a beauty product produced by Athena Cosmetics, is an eyelash stimulating conditioner that you apply along your lashline to make lashes grow longer, thicker and possibly darker. Like any beauty product, different people report differing levels of success when using RevitaLash to improve the appearance of their eyelashes. If you're considering trying a lash lengthening product, you may want to know about the ingredients in RevitaLash.

Sodium Chloride

RevitaLash contains sodium chloride, another name for table salt. It helps thicken mostly liquid applications, such as RevitaLash. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of sodium chloride in cosmetic products for the eyes in concentrations between 2 and 5 percent.

Panthenol

RevitaLash also contains panthenol, a derivative of the B5 vitamin that enhances the appearance of hair by promoting growth, repairing damage and improving sheen. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has stated that panthenol is safe for use in cosmetic products.

Citric Acid

Another ingredient in RevitaLash is citric acid. Citric acid is one of the alpha hydroxy acids, which helps adjust a product's pH balance and extend its shelf life. The FDA recognizes citric acid as generally safe for use.

Phenoxyethanol

Phenoxyethanol, another ingredient in RevitaLash, is a common ingredient in eye care products because of its inhibitory effect on bacterial growth. The CIR has declared phenoxyethanol safe to use in cosmetic products.

Chlorphenesin

Chlorphenesin is a muscle relaxant that is not commercially available in the U.S., according to Drugs.com. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you shouldn't use products that contain chlorphenesin. See a doctor if you experience difficulty breathing, discomfort or hives after using RevitaLash or if you have symptoms such as dizziness or nausea, as these could be signs of an allergic reaction.

Disodium Phosphate

Disodium phosphate is most commonly used to prevent metallic substances in beauty products from rusting. The FDA recognizes it as generally safe for use.

Trifluoromethyl Dechloro Ethylprostenolamide

Trifluoromethyl dechloro ethylprostenolamide is a prostaglandin, or lipid compound, that is associated with increased hair growth.

Other Ingredients

RevitaLash also contains water and cellulose gum.
