How to Hide a Double Chin Without Surgery

Double chins can be embarrassing, but they can also be hard to get rid of. While diet and exercise to lose excess weight, and even drastic measures such as surgery, may help diminish your double chin, you can camouflage it now. The way you wear your hair, your style of clothes and even your jewelry can all influence how prominent your double chin looks. A few simple tricks can have your chin looking smooth and sleek, even if you haven't been to the gym or the plastic surgeon yet.

Step 1

Cut your hair in a way that de-emphasizes your double chin. Hair that falls exactly to the chin can make the neck and chin area look bulkier. Instead, look for a hairstyle that falls just below the ears, which can lengthen your neck. If you want longer hair, try a long, layered style that draws the eye down and away from the chin area.

Step 2

Use your makeup to give your chin extra depth. The farther back your chin appears to be from your face, the thinner it will look. Use a slightly darker color of powder foundation, and swipe it along the double-chin area. This makes the chin appear recessed from the rest of the face, and helps hide the double chin altogether.

Step 3

Wear clothes that draw attention away from the chin area. While you may think a turtleneck is the best way to hide a chin, it draws the eye to your problem area. Instead, go for deep V-neck shirts that make your neck appear elongated, and for embellishment on tops to draw the eye away from your chin.

Step 4

Choose jewelry that helpa hide your double chin rather than emphasize it. For instance, wearing a short necklace or choker will emphasize the thickness of your neck. Instead, wear long necklaces that make the chin area look thinner. Avoid chunky earrings that fall directly beside the chin area. Choose smaller ones that make the distance between the ear and the shoulder appear longer and thinner to camouflage your chin.

Step 5

Invest in a well-made summer scarf. You can wrap the scarf around your neck and double chin to hide it completely, all while looking stylish. A scarf made from a thinner material such as chiffon or cotton can be doubled up to made the chin look smaller in comparison.
