Exercise Equipment for the Office

I am very genuine and magnetic on camera, and have made numerous videos on my own for clients and other organizations that I'm affiliated with. I also have a degree in Sport Management, and multiple certifications to back up my validity. I've also been featured in three different exercise infomercials and had a speaking role in a National Lampoons movie.

The office is a location where phone calls are made and received, files get stored and computer keys get punched on a daily basis. It is also a place where the body can go into a sedentary position day after day. That can all change when you invest in some exercise equipment. Multiple tools are available that can easily fit under, in and around a desk.

Video of the Day

Stability Ball

The stability ball also goes by many other names such as exercise ball, physio ball, balance ball, fitness ball and exercise ball. It is made out of durable rubber, and gets inflated with air and then used for various exercises. You can ditch your computer chair and sit on the ball instead. That alone will cause you to contract core muscles to maintain good postural alignment. During the day, you can integrate some ab crunches into your schedule.

A BOSU is a functional training tool that has an inflated dome side and a hard plastic flat side. It looks like an exercise ball that has been cut in half. The acronym BOSU stands for "both sides utilized." This piece of equipment can easily fit under your desk and you can prop your feet up on the dome side while you are sitting on your exercise ball. That will cause you to work even more stabilizing muscles in your abs and lower body. You can also use this tool to do step-ups throughout the course of the day to get in a little cardio.

Balance Discs

Balance discs, often referred to as air pillows, are circular shaped and filled with air. These are used to improve balance and they are small enough to conveniently slide under your desk. Whenever you use the phone, you can stand on the discs for the whole duration of the call. Once you get good enough, you can challenge yourself and try to stand on one foot. But be aware that you should not use high heels with these tools.

Resistance Bands

Resistance bands are made out of durable rubber and they come equipped with hard plastic handles. These pieces of equipment can easily be rolled up and placed into a desk drawer for storage. You can do such exercises as shoulder presses, back rows, lateral raises, triceps extensions, biceps curls and lunges throughout the course of the day.

Treadmill Desk

If you are unable to go outside or visit the gym, then bring the gym to your office with a treadmill desk. This apparatus has a work station complete with computer screen, keyboard and treadmill underneath. You can then walk as you work. Your mind will be so distracted by what you are doing that you will forget you are even exercising.
