The liver functions as a filter for your blood by removing toxins and harmful bacteria. Maintaining liver function is vital to your overall health in order to keep disease at bay. Flushing the liver after illness or just on a monthly basis keeps it at optimum performance. Liver cleansing can be done at home using simple ingredients such as Epsom salt, water, grapefruit and olive oil. Set aside time for relaxation, which is required during a liver cleanse.

Eat a breakfast and lunch consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid meats, breads and dairy in order keep the meal light. This is to avoid drop in bile production which inhibits toxin removal.

Mix 4 tbsp. Epsom salt with 4 cups of water in a lidded container. At 6:00 p.m., drink1 cup of this mixture. Make sure that you are completely relaxed, as this will aid in the digestion and cleansing process.

Drink another cup of the Epsom salt water at 8:00 p.m., ensuring that you are once again in a relaxed state.

Mix together the juice from the lemon and grapefruit with 1 cup of olive oil at 10:00 p.m. Drink the mixture and then go to bed. Cleansing takes place overnight while you rest.

Drink another cup of Epsom salt mixture at 7:00 a.m. Do not eat anything before consuming the epsom salt mixture. Repeat again at 9:00 a.m. This will finish the mixture off.

Eat fruits and vegetables for the remainder of your day once again avoiding meats, breads, and dairy. You may resume normal eating habits the day after you complete your liver cleanse.

Tip

It is always a good idea to consult your physician before starting any cleansing program.
