Avon's Skin So Soft is a popular line with varying uses and fragrances. It is designed to soften the skin. Many have used the original scented body oil as a mosquito repellent, and now Avon has introduced a Skin So Soft bug spray line. The ingredients in the original Skin So Soft product are soothing and pleasantly scented.

Natural Ingredients

The original Skin So Soft has just a few ingredients, so the chances of allergic reaction are slim. The main ingredients listed are mineral oil, fragrance and carrot seed oil. This is the basis of the bath oil, with two oils as a base and the fragrance to impart a pleasant aroma.

BHT

BHT, or butylated hydroxytoluene, is an antioxidant food additive that has been studied for its antiviral properties. It is used to keep fats from turning rancid, acting as a preservative in Skin So Soft. It will react to free radicals and keep them from oxidizing and changing the color of products to which is added.

Isopropyl Palmitate

Isopropyl palmitate, derived from isopropyl alcohol, is a palm-based emollient used to improve the moisturizing effects of Skin So Soft. It is both odorless and oily.

Dicapryl Adipate

Dicapryl adipate is a synthetic property that is derived from fatty acids and used as a moisturizer in Skin So Soft. This emollient can soothe and soften the skin leaving it less dry and flaky.

Dioctyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate

Dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate is a synthetic product that is used as an emulsifier. It is sometimes abbreviated DSS, and a form of it is used as a oral laxative. As a topical, it disperses the application—in this case the bath oil in Skin So Soft—across the skin easily.
