    • I started my weight loss journey the beginning of 2017. In January I weighed 179.1 pounds and my final weigh in of the year came at 164.2 pounds. The main reason I wanted to lose weight was to look good for my MBA graduation and get to a healthier weight. IT took about two months for me to really enjoy going to the gym and eating healthier. Looking back I am so proud of my progress and being able to motivate people through my journey. Definitely looking forward to seeing how 2018 shapes up!

      Thank you for sharing shubyxcore!!

    • Aloha! My before weight was 155.5 pounds and my current weight is 131.5! That is a total of 24 pounds! I am 5'3". When I started my diet, I also started to attend pilates classes regularly 2-5 times per week. I realized that I don't need as much food as I thought I did to survive. I learned to find happiness in other things than food! I also learned what a mental challenge losing weight is. My inspiration comes from this quote: "Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most." The MyPlate Calorie Counter also helped me track my daily calories, so I knew where I was every day. I am proud of the progress that I've made in such a little amount of time, and am motivated to be #fabandfitby40! Happy New Year!

    • Hello from Singapore (no problem I know I'm not eligible for any prize money) I was 37, overweight and in constant pain from a back injury. I was struggling with an addiction to pain medication, reflux and low energy levels. My self-confidence was at an all time low and I was incredibly frustrated about my body.

Now, at the age of 39, I am pain free, active and full of energy! I've completed a spartan trifecta and am healthy and active in spite of all my previous injuries!

The crazy thing is, I didn't start to get healthy because I needed to... I'd just started a part time job as a coach and I was required to get into shape... So thank God for my awesome coaches who have been my mentors and guides in my journey.

I got on a meal plan that gave me everything I needed without the crazy calories and in the first 90 days I lost 7kg of fat and became pain free! I then added some exercise to my routine and in 6 months dropped my body fat to 15.8% from 27% when I first started. I've since lost a bunch of fat and gained about 6kgs of lean muscle mass and i'm in the best shape of my life! I love that my fitness and health journey has gotten me looking and feeling younger even though i'm almost 40 now. smile I hope my story helps those of you who are trying to figure out how to get started... the secret is to start! there will never be a perfect time or a perfect set of circumstances. Just go for it and enjoy the process. oh yeah - and having a coach definitely helps!

Amazing work nidapele! Thanks for sharing!!

    • My fitness journey has been sort of a life long process with a lot of hills and valleys. The major downfalls in my weight have always been stress related. I would say the thing I am quickest to go towards in my unhealthy eating phases are sugar loaded beverages such as sports drinks and juices. In the food category anything fried, fast, or full of cheese is my choice. A lot of my major nutritional success comes from when I grocery shop and cook for myself. I would attribute it to that as well as avoiding meat and dairy whenever possible. As far as fitness I have tried it all and was an athlete (luckily) at one point in my life, but nothing has made the fat come off faster than running. Again it's a lifelong journey and the goal is to progress and form a healthy lifestyle. These pictures are taken 5 months apart and the before weight is roughly 242lb. and the after is me currently at 204lb. I was 278lbs. a while back as well. Good luck to all and feel free to ask me questions.

    • My before picture and Story are above, this is my after.

    • Hi. My name is Nakesha and I'd like to share my journey with you.
It began back in 2014. Most of that year I spent going back and forth to doctors due to a knot that had formed on the bottom of my foot causing my days to start off in pain. The more pain I was in the less active I became. Finally I was sent to a specialist in another city. This doctor said that although rare the vessels in my foot had formed together causing a knot. Surgery was suggested because my quality of walking would continue to decline if I didn't. So in November 2014 I had the surgery. The recovery took longer than expected due to an infection. I was unable to walk for 2 months. Slowly but surely I got back on my "happy feet". To celebrate that I did my first Color Run (or basically walk for me but I finished) all by myself. Since that time I've completed 6 always in remembrance of the days that I couldn't. During the process of me recovering I put on a lot of weight due to not being active and poor food choices. Over the next two years that followed I made excuse after excuse always blaming my weight gain on what happened then. Eventually I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Tired of whining, tired of complaining, tired of crying and decided to make a lifestyle change. The rest is history. I am a work in progress but I am striving. One of my favorite motivational quotes at this time reads "Mirror, mirror on the wall, I'll always get up after I fall. And whether I run, walk or have to crawl, I'll set my goals and achieve them all".

A little more than a week left to enter this month's contest! We have some amazing entries so far! Anyone else ready to share??

    • My fitness journey has been fraught with successes and failures. I've lost weight, gained it back & now I've lost it again. The photo on the left was taken in 2016 when I weighed around 160 pounds and the photo on the right was taken at the end of 2017 at 131 pounds. I started by training for a 5k and going on hikes with my friends. Then i started incorporating full body workouts. I decided to change how often and how far I ran because I would injur myself a lot. Now, I lift weights and do HIIT workouts. I feel like I'm unrecognizable not only physically, but mentally because of how much I've grown. I used to never eat vegetables and never felt comfortable with myself. I didn't start loving myself until I started treating my body well by exercising and eating to fuel my body. Today, I have so much more confidence and feel like I have the strength to keep going smile and I love eating veggies now!
