Needing a little direction

I posted on the general health board, but this appears to be a more appropriate place for my situation.
I am trying to lose weight after several pregnancies and some mental health issues and stress over the last few years. I need to get back to a healthier weight. I'm currently 5'8" and 228.4# carrying a large amount in my thighs and butt but quite a bit all over. I just started cutting out the soda, candy and crap food this week.
my best adult weight was 149 and I felt amazing there,vso that is my ultimate goal. I previously found 185 to be my sticking point, do that's my first goal now.
I'm not sure what type of diet to aim for. Keto? low carb? high fiber low fat? high protein, high healthy fats?
I am not looking for a miracle, but would like to see a pound or more a week ideally.
also, I'm walking about 8000 steps a day. I will try to add to that.
