Vo2 max

what the heck is a Vo2 Max?? it always shows it on my garmin at the end of my runs, usually im in the 50s but this week i've been in the 40s and i've been having other lunch function issues (i have tracheomalacia) and i'm not sure what i'm supposed to do to help my Vo2 Max! please help! (i'm a highschool runner btw)
