Berry-Sweetened Barbecue Sauce

You’ll adore the touch of real fruit in this berry-sweetened healthy BBQ sauce. Yes, you’ll be using fresh strawberries as the sweet highlight of the sauce. Plus, it has tang and a bit of spiciness thanks to smoked paprika and cayenne that’ll keep you coming back for more. Bottle it up and keep it in your fridge for up to a week.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2/3 cup Sir Kensingtons Ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Sliced Strawberries
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar, Apple Cider
  • 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 tsp Paprika, Smoked
  • 1 tsp Pepper, Ground Black
  • 1/8 tsp Cayenne

DIRECTIONS

1 Add all ingredients to a blender. (Note: Choose a fruit-sweetened or unsweetened ketchup.) Cover and purée.
2 Pour into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered until flavors are well combined, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. (Note: Sauce may splatter during simmering.) If desired, add a pinch of salt to taste.
3 Serve immediately. Or refrigerate in a jar for up to one week.
