Brioche Turkey Sliders with Pomegranate Smoothie

We’re pairing these sliders with a pomegranate smoothie for extra nutrition. The sliders consist of turkey, fresh cilantro, lemon zest and avocado nestled between whole-grain brioche rolls. And the smoothie is made with vitamin C-rich strawberries and pomegranate juice blended with Greek yogurt, which is an excellent source of gut-friendly probiotics.



  • 8 oz Lean Ground Turkey
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp Grated lemon zest
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 6 FreshDirect Fresh Mini Brioche Slider Rolls
  • 2 tsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • 1 cup Baby Arugula


1 In a large bowl, combine turkey, cilantro, lemon zest, pepper, and 1/8 teaspoon of the salt. Form into 6 mini-patties (like breakfast sausage patties), about 2½-inch diameter. Set aside.
2 In a medium bowl, add the avocado, lemon juice, and remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt and mash together well with a fork to combine. Spilt the brioche rolls and spread the avocado mixture into the rolls. (Hint: Optionally, cut 12 hearty slices of whole grain bread into heart shapes using a cookie cutter and enjoy in place of the rolls.)
3 Heat the olive oil in a large stick-resistant skillet over medium heat. Add the turkey burger patties and cook until well done, about 5 minutes per side.
4 Add the turkey patties to the brioche rolls along with the onion and arugula; form burgers.
5 Notes:
  Use whole-grain brioche rolls if you can find them.
  These sliders taste delicious when paired with a pomegranate smoothie. You'll need 1 cup of frozen strawberries, sliced; 2/3 cups of POM Wonderful 100% pomegranate juice; and 1/2 cup nonfat, plain Greek yogurt.
  To make the smoothie, quickly add frozen strawberries, pomegranate juice, and Greek yogurt to a blender; puree and serve.
