Chocolate Orange Salted Walnuts

Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, contains polyphenols, which research shows may be able to decrease damage the sun causes to the skin. The walnuts in this recipe also provide a source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are also essential in protecting the skin from aging effects from the sun.



  • 1 cup Walnuts
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 2 tbsp Orange Zest
  • 1/8 tsp Kosher Salt


1 In a microwave safe bowl, add chocolate chips and heat for 20 to 30 seconds and stir.
2 Continue heating in 20-second increments until melted, stirring after each time in the microwave.
3 Stir finely grated orange zest into the chocolate.
4 Dip walnuts into the chocolate and with a slotted spoon or two forks, remove from chocolate and allow extra chocolate to drip down.
5 Place chocolate covered walnuts on a piece of parchment paper.
6 Sprinkle with salt and additional orange zest before the chocolate sets.
7 Allow the chocolate to firm up at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
