Holiday Sazerac Cocktail

Bring a little taste of New Orleans to your holiday party with this sassy and low-calorie sazerac recipe from Food.com.

INGREDIENTS

SERVES 1

  • 1 1/2 tsp Simple Syrup
  • 3 dash Aromatic Bitters
  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1/2 tsp Pernod
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Peel, Raw

DIRECTIONS

1 In a shaker, combine ice, whiskey, syrup and bitters.
2 Stir -- don't shake -- the mixture until the whiskey is chilled.
3 Coat a chilled martini glass with Pernod, pouring out any excess -- unless you like a stronger flowery taste from the anise.
4 Pour in the whiskey concoction.
5 Twist the lemon peel and use it to garnish the cocktail or toss it right in for tart hints.
