Homemade Cranberry Orange Sauce pairs beautifully with your favorite poultry and pork dishes and when used as a condiment, wakes up every day sandwiches. The fresh orange juice provides tang and sweetness; two oranges will yield about a half cup of juice. A dash of your favorite sweet red wine adds rich flavor too.

INGREDIENTS

SERVES 12

  • 1 1/2 lb Fresh Cranberries
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 6 dash Allspice, Ground
  • 2 oz Sweet Red Wine
  • 1 1/3 cups Agave Nectar
  • 2 pinch Sea Salt, Coarse, Mediterranean

DIRECTIONS

1 Place cranberries, orange juice, and water in a medium sauce pot over medium high heat. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Continue to boil for about 3 minutes.
2 Reduce the heat. Stir in cinnamon, allspice, wine, agave nectar and salt and continue to cook at a very gentle simmer for approximately 25 to 30 minutes or until sauce thickens. Add more cinnamon or allspice if desired.
3 Let cool and refrigerate until ready to use (sauce will thicken more as it cools).
