Pumpkin Pie Dessert Hummus

You are entitled to pumpkin pie every day of the year with this dessert hummus. Traditional pumpkin pie spices are the key to the decadent taste of this super healthy dessert.

INGREDIENTS

SERVES 6

  • 15 oz Chickpeas (garbanzo beans, bengal gram), mature seeds, canned, drained, rinsed in tap water
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Spices, pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp Cloves, Ground
  • 3 tbsp 2% reduced-fat milk
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

DIRECTIONS

1 Drain and rinse chickpeas. Remove skins by gently squeezing and separating skin from bean.
2 Add beans, pumpkin puree, brown sugar and spices to a food processor. Blend until smooth.
3 While the food processor is blending, slowly add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
4 Drizzle maple syrup on top (optional).
5 Serve with cinnamon pita chips or apple slices.
