Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Slow cooker meals are a lazy and cozy way of adjusting your meal prep habits for the fall weather. For a warm and protein-packed dinner, try a hearty slow cooker beef stew. The lean beef will provide a hefty amount of protein, vitamin B12 and zinc, and added vegetables will make for a balanced meal. Worcester sauce and paprika give the stew a delicious savory-sweet tang. For those who do not have much time on their hands – the ingredients can be stored in a large freezer bag and frozen until you are ready to cook the meal.



  • 1 1/2 lb raw beef chuck
  • 3 medium raw carrots
  • 1 stalk , medium celery
  • 3 Potatoes, Red
  • 1/2 medium White Onion
  • 1/3 cup red wine
  • 1 tbsp Worcester Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Flour, Whole Wheat
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Bay Leaf
  • 1 tsp Thyme, fresh
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Salt, Iodized
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth


1 Prep all the vegetables and set aside: slice the carrots; chop the celery stalk; cube the red potatoes; and dice the onion.
2 In a large freezer bag, add the beef and flour. Seal the bag and shake it up until the flour coats all the beef.
3 Add the remaining ingredients, except for the broth, and freeze until you are ready to cook.
4 When you are ready to prepare the meal, place the ingredients in a large bowl and defrost overnight in the refrigerator.
5 Pour defrosted contents into the slow cooker, add broth, and cook on medium for at least 8 hours.
