Spiced Apple Chips

INGREDIENTS

SERVES 2

  • 2 Gala Apple
  • 2 tbsp Coconut Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon, Ground
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

DIRECTIONS

1 Preheat oven to 200°F.
2 Core the large Gala (or other red) apples. Cut the apple crosswise into extra-thin slices using a sharp knife or mandoline. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on two unbleached parchment-lined baking sheets. Evenly sprinkle with a mixture of coconut sugar (or turbinado sugar), cinnamon, salt, and cayenne. (NOTE: It’s okay to sprinkle just one side of the chips.)
3 Bake until crisp, about 4 hours. (NOTE: The thinner the apple slices, the shorter the baking time.)
4 Remove from oven, let cool completely and further crisp on the pan on racks. Then enjoy or store in a sealed container for up to 3 days.
