Making your fries from apples turns a savory side dish into a satisfyingly sweet dessert. These oven fries get their flavor from cinnamon and coconut sugar -- not the refined white sugar found in most sweets -- so they’re a healthful way to satisfy your sweet tooth.
INGREDIENTS
SERVES 4
-
4 medium Fuji Apples
-
2 tbsp unsalted butter
-
1 tbsp Cinnamon, Ground
-
1 tbsp Coconut Sugar
-
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
DIRECTIONS
1
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
2
Peel and core the apples, then slice into thin “fries” (each fry should be roughly a ½-inch thick).
3
Add the butter to a microwave-safe mixing bowl and microwave on high for 5 seconds at a time until melted.
4
Pour the apples into the bowl along with butter, add the spices and coconut sugar, and stir until the apples are coated.
5
Transfer the slices to a baking sheet lined with greased parchment paper.
6
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, turning once after 7 minutes.
7
Remove from oven and serve immediately.
