How you doing? Scott White here in Scottsdale, Arizona. We're going to discuss how to strengthen your ankles for skating. So the reason why this is Important is for stuff if you have weak you ankles. When you're skating you can fall down you can hurt yourself and it can cause big problems. So a few exercises we're going to discuss to help strengthen your ankles during skating. The first exercise for strengthening your ankles is to lay on the ground or sitting in the chair and you do the alphabet. You can do large letters, capital letters, small letters, forward and backwards. So you're going to take your ankle, hold it in the air, and you're going to do an A movement or a big A or a little A movement. You do that forwards and backwards. Go through the whole alphabet. Obviously A through Z and then Z through A. And then you can repeat it to the other ankle. And this is a great exercise to strengthen your ankles. Very basic, you can do it anytime. I used to even do it while sitting in the classroom just to keep my focus. The second exercise you would do is you're going to stand on one foot. And you can progress this to all different levels. First you just stand on one foot to balance. You can bend your knee slightly to increase the load on your body and increase the stability that you're going to have to have. The second thing is you close one eye. Then you close both eyes to make sure you can stabilize that ankle. Obviously if you want to increase that again you would stand on top Bosu ball. Keep your eyes open and then you can progress to one eye, then two eyes. So there's level of progression with that exercise which will greatly increase the strength in your ankles.
