Super Colon Cleanse by Health Plus is a supplement intended to detoxify your body and clean out your internal organs. While this may be beneficial for you, some of the ingredients in Super Colon Cleanse have the potential to cause unpleasant side effects. As Health Plus explains, Super Colon Cleanse contains ingredients such as psyllium husk that help absorb fluid and food from your colon. According to the company, psyllium husk also may help smooth the inside of your colon to help your bodily waste move out of your body more easily. (See References 1)

Rectal Bleeding

As Health Plus notes, psyllium husk powder is the main ingredient in Super Colon Cleanse. The website Colon Health Advice explains that this ingredient is effective for cleaning out your system by increasing water in your stool and making it softer and easier to pass. Unfortunately, this has the potential to damage your gastrointestinal system and may cause rectal bleeding, according to Colon Health Advice. While the site acknowledges the risk of this effect is low, you should talk to your doctor if you experience any bleeding or abdominal pain. (See References 2)

Skin Problems

In addition to psyllium husk, Super Colon Cleanse contains fennel seed, an herb that has many uses--promoting menstruation, increasing libido and promoting lactation, according to the medicine information website Drugs.com. While Health Plus claims fennel seed may help prevent digestive cramping, it may also cause side effects. According to Drugs.com, fennel seed may cause photodermatitis, which is a rash that develops following exposure to sunlight. In addition, the site notes fennel seed may cause contact dermatitis, which is a rash that develops due to direct contact with fennel seed. This may occur if you accidentally spill some of the Super Colon Cleanse powder on yourself. (See References 1 and 3)

Nausea

As the supplement information website Herbal-Supplements-Guide explains, senna is a natural laxative that can be powerful. However, the website notes that senna carries the risk of series of side effects and "should be your very last resort" for curing constipation. This is because senna may trigger diarrhea and nausea. The risk of nausea may be more severe in Super Colon Cleanse than in senna-only products, as Colon Health Advice notes nausea is a possible side effect of psyllium husk. (See References 2 and 4)
