If you're tired of commercial hair conditioners and the residue they leave on your hair, a homemade conditioner made of everyday ingredients may be the just break your oily hair needs. Vinegar and lemon will remove built-up product residue and will restore your hair's natural pH balance. Honey and chamomile tea will act as a gentle conditioner without adding unwanted oil to your hair. Don't worry about the scent of vinegar, which will dissipate as soon as your hair dries.

Step 1

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a glass or enamel saucepan. Alternatively, place the water in a microwave-safe container and heat the water in a microwave oven.

Step 2

Place 1 chamomile teabag in the water and allow it to steep for 4 to 5 minutes.

Step 3

Stir 1 tbsp. honey into the warm tea.

Step 4

Add 1/4 cup cider vinegar and the juice of one fresh lemon. Stir well, and then pour the mixture into a plastic bottle. If you don't want a hair-lightening effect, omit the lemon.

Step 5

Shampoo your hair as usual, then squeeze the excess moisture from your hair. Pour the vinegar conditioner through your hair and allow it to remain for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water, and then blow your hair dry with a soft towel.
