DR. LISA RHODES: Hi, I'm Dr. Lisa Rhodes with Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery. There are many options available out there to help exfoliate the top layer of your skin. Some commonly used substances are glycolic acid and salicylic acid. These are available in many different washes, toners, and lotions that can help exfoliate the top layer of your skin. Microdermabrasion and peels can also help exfoliate the top layer of your skin. There are home microdermabrasion kits and home peels, but the more aggressive ones are available at your spas or your dermatologist office. The most aggressive way to exfoliate the top layer of the skin is with prescription medications or laser resurfacing. I recommend that you see your dermatologist about this procedures.
