MELISA BROWN: Hi, my name is Melisa Brown and I'm a licensed massage therapist here in Miami, Florida. I'm with U Need A Massage. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to give a shiatsu massage. In shiatsu, we use the tools of our hands, our thumbs. We also use our elbows; we also use our forearms. We do forearm rolling. We also use our elbows to save our fingers. As many times as I can stress this - I've never stressed it enough - avoid using your fingers. Shiatsu, I can go in on the side of the spine if we're going to do shiatsu on the back. We are going to be going on just next to the spine. I'm going to be pressing in and I'm going to be holding it for four to seven seconds and then I'm lifting up. I'm not going fast at all. I'm going at a very soothing phase. There are different meridians in shiatsu all throughout the body. And if you'd like to know more about it, just do some investigating. I'm sure on the Internet you can find all the lines of shiatsu and all the meridians. It's wonderful. You got the liver; you got the heart. You've got different types of meridians all throughout the body. Now, you don't only have to do the spine, you can do this throughout all the meridians that you have, on your arms, on the legs, wherever there are points. They're all suitable points.
