Essential oils are highly concentrated plant material made through a process of distillation. Because they are so potent, essential oils need to be diluted before added to hair in a carrier oil, such as jojoba oil, almond oil, or apricot kernel oil. According to Organic Facts, rosemary essential oil can help stimulate hair follicles to create new hair growth, as well as slowing hair loss. Lavender, thyme, and clary sage are other essential oils that blend well with rosemary and are beneficial to hair. Please note that herbal treatments are not meant to replace medical advice. It is important to check with your doctor if you are experiencing hair loss.
Unscrew the cap of the bottle of jojoba oil. According to Nature's Gift, you should add 6 drops of essential oil to every single fluid ounce of jojoba. So if you have a 4 oz. bottle of jojoba oil, add 24 drops of essential oils.
Open the rosemary essential oil bottle, being careful not to touch the top with your fingers. You want the formula to have mostly drops of rosemary, so adding approximately 12 drops should suffice.
Add 4 drops of each of the remaining essential oils. This will add a total of 24 drops to the 4 oz. jojoba bottle. Screw the cap back onto the jojoba oil and roll it lightly back and forth on a flat surface.
Wet your hair with warm water in a sink or shower and apply the oil mixture thoroughly into your roots. Let the mixture sit in your hair for 20 to 30 minutes.
Rinse out your hair using your shampoo and conditioner. Let your hair air dry.

Thyme essential oil
Clary sage essential oil

Jojoba oil is the suggested carrier oil that is best for hair loss. For dry or damaged hair, you can use coconut or kukui nut oil as well. Try leaving the mixture in your hair at night as you sleep. Place a towel on your pillow so you do not leave any stains. You can experiment with varying the amounts of each essential oil as long as it fits within the ratio suggested. For example, if you like the smell of lavender, try adding more drops of it and less of the others.
Test a small area on your skin with the mixture to make sure it does not cause any reactions. Essential oils are highly potent, so do not add them directly to your hair without a carrier oil. Again, if you are concerned about hair loss, see your doctor first.
