How to Remove Skin Tags With Vinegar

Skin tags are small, flesh colored growths on the skin that may hang from a stalk. This benign condition, also called an acrochordon, mostly occurs in overweight individuals and on people who suffer from diabetes. Common areas for skin tags to occur include the armpits, neck and in body folds, according to MedlinePlus. Although the skin tag does not require treatment, it may cause discomfort, irritation or embarrassment. A physician may remove a skin tag by cutting it off, burning it off or by freezing it. One possible home remedy for removing skin tags includes using vinegar.

Step 1

Visit a physician to determine if the skin growth is a harmless skin tag and not a serious condition.

Step 2

Wash the area of the body with the skin tag using a mild soap and lukewarm water. Dry thoroughly.

Step 3

Dip a small piece of a cotton ball into apple cider vinegar. The acidity of the vinegar may help remove the skin tag. Squeeze out any excessive amounts of vinegar from the vinegar.

Step 4

Place the cotton ball on the skin tag and leave in place for up to 15 minutes.

Step 5

Repeat the process several time a day until the skin tag darkens, dries up and falls off.

Step 6

Avoid placing apple cider vinegar to skin tags on or around the eye or the anus, according to Home Remedy Haven. Using full strength vinegar may cause harm to the eyes or burns on the skin.
