Not every product claiming to be all natural is organic, and not every product claiming to be organic is organic. The term organic, when applied to facial care products, means that the ingredients included in the formula were grown, cared for, harvested and processed in a manner that created little impact on the environment, as noted by the Organic Consumers Association.
Juice Beauty's Organic Facial Wash was named the number one facial cleanser in Natural Solution's Magazines second annual “Beauty With a Conscience” awards. The cleanser is USDA certified organic and contains white grape and apple juices, aloe vera extract, marigold and chamomile extracts and essential fatty acids to protect and restore your skin's texture and complexion as you cleanse.
Nourishing Face Lotion by Origins bears the USDA organic certification label and contains 95 percent organic ingredients. While other accrediting bodies exist to verify claims of organic practices, the Organic Consumer's Association holds the USDA certified organic label in the highest esteem. The manufacturers claim that this lotion restores moisture and softness to skin, as well as protecting from future damage. It is made for all skin types and includes organic cocoa butter, glycerin, sunflower oil, coconut oil and is scented and preserved with organic clove, rose, lavender, patchouli and red thyme essential oils.
Dead, dry skin can dull your complexion, as noted in “Milady's Standard Cosmetology.” Lily Organics' Rejuvenating Facial Mask bears the USDA certified organic seal and was named the number one facial mask by Natural Solutions Magazine's second annual “Beauty With a Conscience” awards. The formula contains papaya and pineapple extracts, rich in natural citric acid, to peel away dead skin. Honey and vitamins C and E help restore moisture and luster to your skin. Comfrey and horsetail extracts are included in the facial mask to help restore skin on a cellular level. The facial mask also includes mint, whose active chemical menthol draws blood to your face and produces a refreshing, tingling sensation.
Cosmetics that are ecologically friendly can be hard to come by. Organic Wear by Physician's Formula is comprised of certified organic makeup backed by ECOCERT credentials. Organic Wear is the first ECOCERT certified organic makeup in the United States. ECOCERT, an international organization that verifies claims of organic production methods, verifies that this line of Physician's Formula makeup is 100 percent free of harsh chemicals such as parabens, synthetic colors and coal tar dyes, as well as synthetic fragrances. Physician's Formula notes that the line is also cruelty-free--the company does not test on animals. The Organic Wear line includes foundation, bronzer, blush, eye shadow, mascara, lip gloss and tinted powder, as well as basic skin care products such as moisturizer and makeup removal products.
