Hi, I'm Amber Nimedez for LIVESTRONG.COM, and here are a few of the best hip exercises for runners. So, I'm going to stand with my feet about shoulder width apart, and I'm just going to warm up my legs and my hips by doing basic squats, pushing the weight into my heels, pushing my hips back, squeezing my glutes on the way up, keeping my chest up. And you'll do about ten of these. And then my second exercise, I'm going to stand with my feet together. Step out to the side, side lunge here, feeling the stretch in my hamstring here, and the stretch in my hip. So, side to side, keeping my back flat, hips out, warming up those quads. And the last one, we're going to do a hip opener. So, I'm going to cross my right ankle over my left knee, and I'm going to sit back and try to balance. And if you need to, you can hold on to something stable. But this really opens up the right side of the hip. And then I'm going to switch sides, crossing my left ankle over my right knee, sitting back into a pretend chair, pushing this knee down, opening up my hip. And those are three really great exercises to open up and warm up the hips for runners. I'm Amber Nimedez for LIVESTRONG.COM.
