Hi, my name is Amber Nimedez-Lyftogt with LIVESTRONG.COM, and today I'm going to teach you some stretches for joggers. The first one that I like to do are standing foot circles and foot flexes. So, I'm going to interlace my fingers through one leg, pull my shoulders back and I'm going to do circles with my elevated leg. You can do ten each direction and then ten point flexes; and then I'm going to switch sides. So, interlacing my fingers, rolling my shoulders back and then circles and then opposite direction for ten. And if you need to, you can hold onto something stable, and point flex. And then the second exercise is a standing figure four. So, you're going to go ahead and cross your right ankle over your left knee and then you're going to come down into that figure four and then open up the chest and pull, really feeling the chest in the outer part of the hip. If you need to, you can hold onto something stable and then switch sides. Switching to my opposite foot, crossing it over, sitting back into that chair, really feeling the stretch in the side of the hip, opening up the chest and standing right back up. And then the next exercise we're going to do a quad stretch. So, we're going to pull up the back leg and breath, opening up my hip flexor, feeling the stretch in my quad, the front of my thigh, opening up my chest, rolling the shoulders back. And this one you can actually tuck your hips under a little bit so you get a little bit more stretch in that front of the leg and then release, and then other side. Just picking up my leg, opening up my chest, feeling the stretch in my, in my hip flexor and in my quad, tucking my hips under just a little bit to get more of a stretch in that front and then release. And the the last one is a hamstring stretch. So, I'm just going to extend my front leg out, bend the back leg, trying to keep my hips nice and square, interlacing my fingers, placing it on top of my quad, flexing the foot back, feeling a nice stretch on the back of hamstring there. And release and the other side. Sitting back, trying to keep my hips as square as possible, pulling back on my toes. See my foot shaking a little bit, feeling the stretch on the back of the hamstring and releasing. So, those are a few stretches that you can do before you jog.
