Hi, my name is Amber Nimedez-Lyftogt with LIVESTRONG.COM, and today I'm going to teach you a few therapeutic Yoga exercises for obese people with weak hip flexors. So, I'm going to have you start with your feet together or hip width apart, whatever's comfortable for you. You're going to inhale your arms up, palms up and together, exhale bring your arms down to your heart. And you're going to repeat that five times. So, you'll inhale up, exhale down. Hand up, back down. Two more. Inhale up, exhale down and then, one more. Hang out here just for a second, stretch up really really tall, exhale, bring the arms down. So, the second exercise, we're going to separate the feet. So, I'm going to take my left foot in front and my left, my right foot is in back. I'm going to bend the front leg, so I'm in a high lunge and I'm going to do the same thing with my arms, I'm going to inhale up, meet my palms at the top, exhale down. And we're going to do this about five times and these exercises really elongate your upper body, your front body, your rib cage and your hip flexors. And then on my last one, I'm going to hold my arms at the top, palms are together and then I'm going to lean over to my left, the same leg that's out in front. I'm going to come back and then drop my arms down. And then I'm going to bring my feet back together to that starting position and then I'm going to switch legs. So, my right leg goes in front, my left leg stays back; both feet are pointing straight ahead. I'm going to bend the front leg and then inhale my arms up, meet my palms at the top, exhale, bring my arms down. And inhale up, exhale down. Inhale up, exhale down. One more, inhale up, holding my palms here at the top and I'm going to lean over just a little bit to the right side and back to center. And then exhaling my arms down, coming right back to that starting mountain pose position. So, those are a few therapeutic Yoga exercises for people who are obese that have weak hip flexors.
