Hi. My name is Stella Metsovas, and I make a career and life out of studying, cooking and eating food. Today, we're going to talk about healthy eating strategies. Now, the most important thing you need to realize about healthy eating is the ingredients you buy. They can either make or break your attempts of being healthy. And, what I like to shop for when I'm at the supermarket or a farmer's market, is one ingredient foods. And what that means is, basically, foods that contain one ingredient. So, everything here on the table is a one ingredient food. You're going to look for vegetables, chicken, eggs, beans, healthy fats, these are all one ingredient foods. It totally eliminates all the guesswork out of eating healthy. You also want to make sure to be very mindful about what time you're eating, especially, during the end of your day. You don't want to eat too heavy at night because what happens while you're sleeping is a bunch of amazing things happen; your hormones get repaired, metabolic restoration goes on, so it's a time that your body actually rebuilds itself for the next day. And, if you consume a lot of calories right before you go to bed, it's going to disrupt that, so make sure you're very mindful of that. Also make sure that you keep simple sugars at bay. There's absolutely no reason why we should have any type of simple sugars in our diet. Fruit is okay, just be very mindful of how much fruit you're consuming. Also make sure if you are of age and you can drink alcohol, understand that alcohol to a certain limit is somewhat healthy, studies show, but I take more of an aggressive approach, in that, if you consume alcohol it is going to have an impact on your hormones, especially if you go overboard. So, be very careful when consuming alcohol and, if you are having mixed drinks, make sure not to include any of those high-sugar mixes in there. My name is Stella Metsovas and today we talked about healthful, mindful eating. Have a great day.
