Hi, I'm Denise Druce for LIVESTRONG.com. Let's look at how to go from being weak to being strong. I'll show you a great progression for plank posts. To go from being weak to being strong work up to being able to do a full-body push-up. So we start that by learning how to do plank. So you'll start on your hands and knees and just get used to keeping your weight on your hands and then instead of doing a modified push-up try this. Take one leg back and then the other and what that does is it helps you strengthen your back and your core to hold you when you're ready to do a full push-up. The next step would be coming into a plank, tucking your toes under and holding that plank as long as you can. That really helps to develop shoulder stability and core strength. When you're ready to try a push-up, take your hands wider and you may start with your feet wide and do your push-ups there and as you get stronger bring your feet closer together. Remember you can do a 1000 pushups on your knees and still not be able to do one full push-up on your toes. So practice with your plank pose and gradually work up to that full push-up. That was how to go from weak to strong. I'm Denise Druce for Livestrong.com.
