Hi, I'm Denise Druce for LIVESTRONG.com. Lets talk about how to have a firmer body using weights. I'll show you my favorite plie squat. I'm going to show you one of my favorite exercises for getting a firmer body. This is called a plie squat. So we are going to start with the feet turned out pretty wide. Wider then a traditional squat. And then as you come down into the squat you want to make sure that your knees are pointed out over your toes. Your spine is in a straight line and your abdominals are really strong. And then with the weights down in front of you you are going to lower down a little bit more and then lift your hands to shoulder height. So check it out. This is working not only your legs, your glutes, but also your abdominals, your shoulders, your chest and your upper back.. So this becomes a really amazing exercise for the whole body. Another variation of this is to bring the dumbbells to the thighs and to pick up your heels. So now you can work your core a little bit more and focus on balance.
