Hi. This is Madison Chase, your trainer to the stars and the star in you helping you be your absolute best by changing your heart and watching a healthier body follow. So the question for today is should you jog if you're a heavier person. Now the question is how heavy is your heavy. Is this the heaviest that you've ever been and that's 20 to 30 pounds overweight for your normal body structure and your normal body frame and your BMI and that's your body mass index, then my suggestion would be for you to wait til you drop a couple of more pounds, at least 10 pounds to take some of the pressure actually off of your joints. So the most important thing when you're trying to lose weight you want to do exercises and cardiovascular activity that really takes a lot of pressure off of your joints and with ever fitness level you're at. So if you're just starting out and your goal is to really lose more than 30 to 40 pounds, you want to make sure that you're doing exercises like biking because it completely takes all of the pressure off of your joints. If you're swimming, that's a great alternative to walking or jogging and or walking is another great exercise. So my personal recommendation, and I'm sure you'll hear a hundred of different opinions, but my personal recommendation is to protect your joints at whatever weight you are. If you feel like you're overweight make sure that you're protecting your joints. And the best cardiovascular activity to do that is riding a bike, whether you're indoors or outdoors, and making sure that you're protecting all of your joints by wearing a helmet, wearing elbow pads, wearing knee pads. And if you're biking at a gym making sure that you're pressing through with your heels and making sure that you have the proper shoes to bike and also swimming. So these are my recommendations if you're thinking about jogging and you're overweight or you feel like you're heavier than your normal size I would recommend either swimming, biking and or walking.
