Hello, my name is Max Jaben. Today, we're going to discuss at what age children can start swimming. We're going to talk about the different aspects of swimming as far as safety all the way to at what age children can start developing proper swim strokes. We see kids taking arm strokes as early as two years old. The strokes that they are taking are freestyle strokes. To work on those strokes we first like them to demonstrate out of the way what a stroke looks like. So we have them move their arms in a windmill position where they are pulling down in front of them and their arms are exiting behind them with high elbows. To work on this in the water, we like the kids to kick holding onto a kick board, passing the kick board from hand to hand as they pull and their faces in the water. This drill is called catch up with a kick board.
