Hi, I'm Jennifer Kamstock, and this is what foods give you enough energy to stay up all night. If you know you are going to be pulling an all-nighter, one thing to be mindful about is what food you eat all day. That's actually even more important than the snacks you could have at night. So here are some tips. You want to focus on having good complex carbohydrates and proteins through the day so that your blood sugar levels stay nice and steady and some examples are some steel cut oatmeal, an egg white omelet with veggies, both of these would be great breakfast options. For lunch a salad with protein or a sandwich with veggies and some lean protein on a whole grain bread and then for dinner, think well balanced, protein, vegetables, a good complex carbohydrate like quinoa, brown rice or even a yam is excellent because it will curb that sweet craving and so you won't be craving cookies or brownies which if you have that at night and you need to stay up the entire night it might make you crash. Try and avoid coffee during the day too and save it for later on when you are trying to stay up. Okay now you are up all night, what are you going to do? If you are leaving the house, try and pack some great snacks such as carrot and hummus, celery with peanut butter is a great protein on a nice fiber rich hydrating vegetable, hard boiled eggs are a great snack, bananas and apples, lots of fruit and veggies basically. One really important thing also, stay hydrated. If you are dehydrated, it will definitely make you fatigued and lethargic. So if you are home, have all these things and you can also have maybe some left over grains and proteins. Now when you are starting to feel your eyes shut a little bit, you can reach for the coffee, try and hold off on that as much as possible because eventually you'll crash but if you wait until later it should give you that extra boost and finally one great little trick is just chewing gum. It should be really refreshing and wake you up. So the goal is to eat enough to have energy but not be sluggish and you will stay up all night.
