I'm Debbie O'Toole. And I'm going to talk to you today about situations that decrease your heart rate. There are many ways you can decrease your heart rate by getting rid of caffeine, by relaxing and getting a massage, and most importantly, by working out. One of the best things that you could do is cardiovascular activity, which includes aerobic activity. Which in the long run is going to slow down your resting heart. And what this will do is prevent your heart from working so hard and help prevent heart disease in the long run. If you have never done anything before, what you can do to start, is to start walking. That's one of the most healthy things that you can do to start, just get moving, get that heart rate up. And as you get going, you can keep on increasing the intensity as you go. There's many different aerobic activities that you can do to increase your heart rate. There's the StepMill, there's Arc Trainer and the bicycle is another great way to increase your heart rate. And you can even jump rope, which will really get your heart rate going. And int he long run, it's going to bring that resting heart rate back down.
