Hey, guys. My name's Danielle Wechsler, and today I'll be showing you how to practice jumps for cheerleading. Because jumps are an explosive movement, we'll be focusing on plyometric exercises, also known as jump training. To practice your jumps, we'll go through each exercise, exerting maximum force throughout each plyometric movement. The first exercise is a squat jump. As you start with your feet shoulder-width apart, lower down to about 90 degrees. As you come up, explode through the balls of your feet landing softly, lower back down to your squatted position for one rep. Complete this 12 to 15 times. Next exercise is a monkey jump. For a monkey jump you're gonna start in a squat position, bring your hands to the ground. Push through your shoulders and squeeze your core to extend up your legs. Go in a slight handstand position as you squeeze your core, slowly lower down back to a squatting position. Repeat this for about 12 times. Last exercise is a plank jack. Start in a pushup position with your core tight, body level. As you squeeze your core, jack your legs out and in, out and in, maintaining body control and keeping that line level. Do this for about 12 to 15 times.
