Hi, this is Reginald Reese. How much weight do you burn during an hour of sprinting uphill? Great question. Sprinting uphill develops your cardiovascular endurance as well as being your power and strength in your legs. Let's start by using a treadmill. I'm going to start by increasing the elevation in the treadmill. I want to probably move up if I'm a beginner, probably go to 5. Next I want to manipulate the speed. Since it's a sprint, I want to jack it up a little. Here I want to get my heart running by placing the speed at probably 4. I want to sprint. I want to do a sprint last, probably 30 seconds because I'm going to ease the treadmill back down and I want to do this routine 5 to 10 times, sprinting uphill. Depending on your activity level, this will determine how many calories you burn while sprinting uphill. If you are doing light aerobics starting off small, you will burn less than five calories a minute. If you are going moderately, you will burn from 5 to 10 calories a minute and if you are going moderately heavy to heavy, you will be burning more than 10 calories a minute. Now depending on your weight, this will also calculate into how much weight you will burn sprinting uphill. For example, if you are a female, weighing at 120 pounds and you are sprinting uphill for 25 minutes, you will likely burn greater than 10 calories per minute. This coincides at two 25 minutes time, greater than 10 calories is 250 calories. One pound equals to 3,500 calories. So by sprinting for an hour, you are burning 250 calories less than a tenth of a pound. If you increase your time and distance, that is when you will start to see those calories add up and that's when you start to see the weight fall off.
