I'm Beth Hoover, and today I'm going to show you how to perform calf exercises with a fun noodle. Using a Funnoodle is a great way to incorporate some of the equipment you might have at home in order to work the calf muscle. The calf muscle is actually the gastrocnemius and the soleus muscle so I'm going to be showing you two exercises to work each of those muscle groups. For the first exercise we're going to take the Funnoodle and we're just going to place it on the floor next to a wall. You're going to want to step onto the noodle with the balls of your feet and go ahead and hold onto the wall because you're going to need to balance. Engaging your core muscles and keeping your back straight, go ahead and drop the heels and then come all the way up onto the toes and continue to repeat the exercise. Dropping the heels and then all the way up onto the toes. This exercise is going to focus mainly on the gastrocnemius which is the outer muscle of the calf that gives it that nice shape and the second exercise you're actually going to bend the knees and this exercise is going to help to focus more on the soleus which is the underlying muscle. So we're going to perform the same exercise by dropping the heels and then coming up onto the toes.
