Hi, I'm Christine King. Let's do an easy workout to trim and tone. Trimming and toning is very important for your muscle mass and your bone density but there is some confusion over what is the best way to do it. Just think about strength training. We can select some very easy exercises for you that can be done in the gym or at your home. You want to perform about 10 to 20 repetitions of each of these exercises and then just repeat them two to three times or in whatever amount of time you have to exercise. The first exercise is a push-up and you can begin on a chair level or a floor level, whichever your strength is at at that time. The next is a squat, a simple squat with a lateral stance, just bending your knees, pushing your hips back behind you with the weight in the heels. Once again, around 15 repetitions should do the trick. The next is a chair dip. Simply sit in a chair, take your hips off the chair and bend and straighten the elbows as much as you can handle but not beyond the 90 degree elbow bend, about 15 repetitions. Next on the floor, we want to go onto the hands and knees and do a Superman and that is just extending the opposite arm to leg very straight, straight arm, straight knee and holding the abdominals in and alternating right and left sides with control. And then finally of course, we all need to do crunches to strengthen our abdominals and we want to maintain proper posture with the hands behind the head, the chin up to the ceiling and gently roll up, squeezing the stomach into the floor and rolling down, about 15 repetitions and that is an easy way for you to begin a trimming and toning program.
